On the grounds of De Meer is a residential area with links to the past. Stadion De Meer has been the home of Ajax for 62 years. In 1996 the stadium moved to make room for a residential area where many historical traces can be found. Street names refer to the stadiums where Ajax played legendary games and there are bridges named after Ajax players from the 1970s.

De Meer Stadion (Dutch pronunciation: [də ˈmeːr ˌstaːdijɔn]) is the former stadium of Dutch record football champions Ajax. It was opened in 1934 as a result of the club's former stadium being too small. Upon completion, it could hold 22,000 spectators, but accommodating up to 29,500 at its maximum.

Stadion De Meer, kortweg De Meer genoemd, was een voetbalstadion aan de Middenweg 401 in de Watergraafsmeer in Amsterdam. Tussen 1934 en 1996 was het de thuishaven van AFC Ajax. Het tegenover de wijk Betondorp gelegen stadion werd ontworpen door architect en Ajax-commissaris Daan Roodenburgh.

Stadion de Meer bood plaats voor 19.000 toeschouwers. Het stadion ademde voetbal, iets wat vele supporters in de Amsterdam ArenA missen. Vanaf 1928 werd gewerkt aan de bouw van een nieuw stadion, verderop in de Watergraafsmeer, waar de gemeente allerlei sportvelden aanlegde. In 1934 begon de daadwerkelijke bouw. Het nieuwe stadion en de twee trainingsvelden kwamen aan de Middenweg, op de plek waar eerder de hoeve Voorland stond, waar het sportpark naar vernoemd werd.

De Meer Stadion was able to witness some historic moments during its time. The initial capacity of the ground was only 22,000, but it was a step up from Ajax's previous ground - Het Houten Stadion. However, it was even capable of accommodating 29,500 spectators at its peak. This capacity was later brought down to 19,000, where it remained.
